‘Immunity’ from social network heavyweights like Facebook and Twitter is perhaps the only asset for which most governments will envy the North Korean regime. Many in the Arab world and even Russia’s own strongman gift to the world, Vladimir Putin, now know and rue the powers of social networks as a prominent, emerging, un-suppressible force of opposition. Just how do squads of riot police and armored personnel carriers curb a threat that is virtual, instant, everywhere and all reaching?
